The Hartley-Stone (belated) summer event
Posted on: 31 Oct 2017
Every summer, as a thank-you to the team, we take them out for a day, usually with a night stop. We combine food (and drink) with a bit of culture and relaxation.
This year we ran a little late and, wanting somewhere warm in October, we decided to book a weekend in Nice. Great decision. Nice was chilled, warm, clean, vibrant, multi-cultural, welcoming and beguiling.
The food and drink was found all round Nice’s buzzing Old Town sidestreets, and with a lovely evening seafood meal on the beach. The culture was provided by a walk through the town’s central park and into Nice’s Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Clever, inspiring and downright weird selection of work from artists like Yves Klein and Niki De Saint Phalle (links below). As an engagement idea we asked everyone to pick their favourite artwork. (David N said his was the ‘exit’ sign!).
We won’t say too much about the late evening/early morning, suffice to say captains of industry shouldn’t dance on tables.
